Wow! What an amazing experience working with you all to create a truly special piece of jewellery! Using inherited pieces and combining them together was a wonderful idea. I enjoyed each step of the way from the initial hand sketches, CAD visuals and finally the finished article. Every time I look at it I smile and remember the very special people who left me the jewellery to be able to do this. Lara D-J. Facebook review.

Ready Made Jewellery
Do you need a little help visualising a completed design before its made? Do you find it difficult to explain the design and style that you require in an item of jewellery? During 2007 we decided to study the amazing possibilities of CAD (computer aided design) using Matrix 3D Jewellery Design software from Gemvision. The Matrix program lets us design virtual jewellery on screen whilst generating a detailed colour preview image that can be printed or emailed.
This has proven to be a great step forward for designing unique items of jewellery to a customers wishes. Martin can build any design from scratch, once completed you will receive rendered images of the design via email. Items can be viewed from any angle, in any material and set with any cut and coloured stone.
One of the benefits of having an item designed with CAD is that any aspect of the rendered design can still be changed after you see the images before its made. Sometimes it helps our clients to see two versions of a design before they know which one will work for them, with computer aided design this is possible.
There are many possibilities with CAD CAM and here at Martin Wilde Jewellers we are very pleased to say that we are part of it, which allows our customers to have a lot of fun designing their own jewellery.
Sometimes all you require is some helpful advice, we are here to offer you this service. Martin is happy to give you his opinion and advise you where possible.
Inscribing on items is a wonderful way of adding that special touch to a gift. It can record a message to remember a special day or person. We can engrave on a variety of items, these include - ID bracelets, inside rings and bangles, on pendants, trophies, tankards, pens, lighters, watch cases, plaques, glass and even iPod’s. Once we know the wording you would like engraved, we give you a few options, these include -where on the item you would like the engraving and how much of the area would you like it to cover, what style of font to engrave in and how big or small you would like the text to be. We will happily advise you in all these areas and make the decision easy for you.
Our minimum charge for engraving on a flat surface is £12.00.
Our minimum charge for engraving on a curve, (tankard, ring, bracelet), is £16.00
Our minimum charges include any style of font, size and can contain a name and date or even a short phrase. We can also engrave pictures and portraits on to items, these are priced individually.
We would like a week to complete this service, but if you need a quicker turn around then we would try our best to complete it within a few days, (depending on our workload at the time).
Planning on popping the question, or is your Fiancee helping choose her own engagement ring? Whatever your requirements and budget, we will work with you to ensure that the finished piece is exactly what your loved one desires.
We are able to provide you with a selection of designs to choose from, alternatively we can order in ready made rings. Unset ring mounts are also available to view, this option allows you to choose the style and cut of diamond that will be set into the mount.
If you would like something unique then why not design your own ring? We can help you do this and also order in a selection of stones for you to choose from.
FROM YELLOW TO WHITE
Another service that we carry out on our premises is rhodium plating. We are able to re-rhodium items, the most popular item to re-rhodium is a ring. Over time the existing finish wears off and on white gold rings a yellowish tinge starts to appear, we simply re-polish and re-rhodium the whole item.
If you have yellow gold rings, earrings and pendants, and you now like the look of white gold, we are able to add a rhodium finish covering the whole item, creating the look of white gold. This way you can enjoy wearing them again.
A rhodium finish doesn’t last forever, we are very generous with our coating but over time, especially on rings, the finish will wear away. You can always have the rhodium added again at any time and, if you decide you no longer like the white appearance, we can polish the rhodium away to turn your items back to their original colour. We will only do this on items where we have applied the Rhodium.
Whether you need a stone replacing in an item of jewellery you already have, or would like us to supply you with a stone and make a new piece of jewellery for you, we are always happy to order a variety in for you to view, with no obligation.
We understand how confusing it can be when you set out to buy a diamond, therefore we will fully explain the different qualities available to you. We can show diamonds to you with different colours and clarity grading, we point out any inclusions in the stones, that way you know exactly what you are buying. We can also provide you with certificated diamonds.
Whatever you are looking for, maybe diamonds, coloured gemstones, or something that’s a little unusual, we apply the same attitude whether you are buying a stone that is £5 or one that is £5000. We can order a selection in for you to view, if we set them for you, they are all treated with the same amount of care.
As well as supplying stones we also provide an onsite setting service. Martin is an expert setter and guarantees all of the stones that are set by him.
If you have any loose stones and would like an item of jewellery made with them then we can help you design a unique piece. Martin will explain different types of settings and advise you on what method would be best for you.
We are often asked to remove customers rings that are too tight and uncomfortable. If you have swollen knuckles and also have this problem then visit our showroom and we will remove your ring straight away for you.
There is no charge for ring removal.
A much needed service, transform an old pearl necklace, maybe an heirloom, and give items a new lease of life, making them wearable again. We do use an out worker for this service which can take between 1-2 weeks.
We can supply any type of wedding ring, made from 9ct,18ct,platinum or palladium. We use top quality suppliers, therefore we will be providing you with a ring to last a life time.
Speak to the jeweller himself if you require something a little different, maybe a type of textured finish, scattered diamonds or coloured gemstones, even engraving on the inside/outside of your wedding ring. Anything is possible at Martin Wilde Jewellers.
If you can’t find a suitable wedding ring to fit your existing engagement ring, we can help. Martin specialises in hand making shaped wedding rings, call us or visit our premises for a no obligation quote.
Remember, if you purchase both wedding rings from us we will give you a discount.
Valuations for insurance replacement are carried out on site, peace of mind that your items don’t leave our premises. Our valuations include photographs and detailed descriptions. We can complete valuations for one or two items within two days. We may require a week to complete larger valuations.
We love to design and hand make unique items of jewellery. Whether you have a design in mind or have no specification at all, we will happily advise you. Bring magazine cuttings and sketches in if this helps you explain your requirements.
We can work out a cost for your design in different metals, this way if the original material in mind costs too much you could go for a less expensive metal, but keep the same design plan. That’s another thing we do, tailor your design to fit your budget.
Martin himself will discuss your ideas along with his, positives and negatives of the design will be pointed out at this stage. Martin can then state alternatives and if this affects your budget.
If you have old gold and stones, which may have sentimental value, these can be used in the new design. The gold will be melted down and combined with new gold if needed.
Using your old gold and transforming it into a new wearable piece of jewellery is a great idea and if you have stones, of any size and shape, we can also use these in the design.
As our jeweller works on our premises we are able to complete all repairs with a quick turn around. It is possible to have the same day collection service on basic repairs, this does depend on our work load at the time. Where possible we would appreciate a time of no less than one week for any collections but, if this is inconvenient to you, we would try our very best to complete the service within a week. This includes ring sizing (up and down), new clasps, soldering on charms and other basic repairs.
We repair all jewellery items in all metals, (except for costume), we will explain what the repair entails and will quote a price for the repair before we start, giving you the choice as to whether we go ahead. If you have been told elsewhere that an item is beyond repair, please don’t give up, ask us. With Martins’ skills & knowledge it is unlikely that something can't be done for you.
We always provide an honest and high quality service but, in the unlikely event that you are not satisfied with your repair, we will redo this for you at no extra cost. We guarantee all of our repairs.
Martin spends a lot of his time remodelling customers jewellery, it might be a simple request like changing the setting on a single stone ring, but often customers have a few pieces of jewellery that they no longer wear or have inherited, which may not be to their taste and style. Martin combines these items and transforms them into a new unique wearable piece of jewellery that our customers can then enjoy wearing for many years to come.
STEP BY STEP
If this appeals to you, bring your items in and speak to us about what you might like, bring magazine cuttings or images taken from the Internet if this helps you explain the design you have in mind.
Cost plays a very important part when we design any item of jewellery, if you have a budget in mind this is very helpful for us, complex designs cost more to make, therefore a lower budget enables us to stick with simplified designs, we then know the pieces we design are affordable to you. If you have an open mind and creating something you will love plays a bigger part than your budget, then please let Martin’s knowledge and artistic mind flow.
Now that we have an insight into what appeals to you, Martin will sketch the design onto paper, for more complex designs we will create the design on our CAD program. The computer aided design program really is amazing, and allows you to see any design we have discussed come to life on screen. (See CAD CAM for more info).
Once you are happy with the design, we will take a deposit, this is normally 50%. Once your item is made and you are satisified with the completed piece, the balance is then payable.
